Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/4571Palliative Care (PC) comprises a set of practices and speeches, focused on action in the final phase of life, of patients who have a threatening disease, out of the possibility of cure, promoting comprehensive care in order to ensure better quality of life, avoiding unnecessary interventions. The PC addresses the patient in 4 spheres of suffering: spiritual, physical, emotional and social, whether from the control of total symptoms such as family approach, death and grief. Brazil ranks 42nd in the quality of death index, reflecting the poor care of patients in the final stages of life. This research aims to evaluate the perception of health professionals in a public hospital in the Xingu region about palliative care issues through a questionnaire available on the Google Forms plataform and in the field, consisting of eleven items to be answered, being open questions and closed, with a focus on what health professionals know about the topic, as this directly implies the quality of care for patients with a life-threatening disease. The analysis was performed by the responses to the questionnaire, made in interviews. Assessing the perception of professionals regarding the subject in their routine. Given the analysis, it is possible to infer that even the hospital providing a protocol for palliative care, the teams still have weaknesses in the management of patients with terminal illnesses.
