The present study aims to evaluate whether the books present contributions and contextualizations on Pteridophytes and to investigate possible conceptual inaccuracies, quality of visual resources, existence of proposed activities and additional resources. The analized text book were select ed along three high school of Altamira: Getúlio Vargas State High School, Polivalente School State and Dairce Pedrosa Torres State High School. To carry out the analysis, a comparison of the content of textbooks aimed at high school was used, with the equivalent content available in books adopted in Biology subjects in higher education, in addition to other scientific productions. The selected textbooks were divided into codes (LB1, LB2 and LB3), to facilitate evaluation. The criteria defined for the analysis of textbooks were based on the observation of pedagogical, methodological and conceptual aspects, establishing as a reference the Brazilian National Curriculum Parameters for High School, the National Common Curriculum Base and the National Textbook Program.
