The research, qualitative in nature and bibliographic in character, investigated how mathematical knowledge was constituted in Ancient Egypt, considering its records, practices, and social needs. Initially, the role of the History of Mathematics as a research area and as a formative discipline in undergraduate studies is discussed, highlighting its contributions to a critical, cultural, and pedagogical understanding of mathematical knowledge.
