Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9070This research analyzed the photographic preservation practices at the Centro de Memória da Amazônia (Amazon Memory Center - CMA), focusing on the collection of the Grupo de Mulheres Prostitutas do Estado do Pará (Group of Women Prostitutes of the State of Pará - GEMPAC), through bibliographic review, case study, field research, archive visit, and a semi-structured interview with the CMA’s director. The aim was to identify the preservation strategies adopted by the institution, highlighting both the potential and limitations of these practices, and presenting suggestions for improvement. The findings revealed that the collection, composed of photographic records of actions and events promoted by GEMPAC over recent decades, has positive aspects such as environmental climate control and internal training, but also presents technical and structural limitations, including the use of inadequate storage materials and the absence of a continuous conservation and emergency plan.
