Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8355This "Course Completion Work - TCC", entitled: "TRAINING OF BALLROOM DANCE TEACHERS: paths taken for teaching in the state of Pará", arose from a research problem that sought to: understand "how does the training of ballroom dance teachers take place? To this end, it established as a general objective: "to research, analyze and understand how the training of ballroom dance teachers took place in the city of Belém do Pará until 2024". Analyzing the training paths and pedagogical practices adopted and investigating the methodologies used in the training courses or the absence thereof. As well as the importance of valuing regional traditions and skills so that professionals can act effectively. In addition, discussing the impact of teacher training on the quality of teaching "Ballroom Dance" for the enrichment of the culture of Pará. Regarding the methodology of this research work, it is emphasized that the chosen approach was the "Qualitative". The "Research Method" adopted was "Oral History". As for the "Research Type", it was based on the genre of "Oral History" conceptualized as "Oral Tradition". Thus, combined with theoretical studies, semi-structured interviews were conducted with "Ballroom Dance Teachers" from the State of Pará, who were present and contributed to the process of establishing this type of "Dance" in the culture of Pará and who continue to practice it in dance schools in Belém. The technique used to analyze the collected data was the so-called "Thematic Analysis". The work and its results allowed it to be structured as follows: first chapter: HISTORY AND ORIGIN OF BALLROOM DANCING IN BRAZIL, presents an overview of the history and origin of “Ballroom Dancing” in Brazil, discussing the influence of European dances, such as the waltz, polka and mazurka brought by the Portuguese court and the way in which these dances were adapted in the Brazilian context, mixing with African and indigenous rhythms and giving rise to new rhythms. Among these, "Samba" and "Maxixe" stand out in the construction of the identity of “Ballroom Dancing” in Brazil. The second chapter: BALLROOM DANCING IN BELÉM DO PARÁ, provides an overview of “Ballroom Dancing” in Belém do Pará and, based on interviews, exposes the emergence and establishment of the same in the city and seeks to highlight its sociocultural characteristics, highlighting the impact of migrations on the construction of a cultural identity. The third chapter: TRAINING OF BALLROOM DANCE TEACHERS IN THE STATE OF PARÁ, analyzes the training process of professionals who work in teaching this type of dance, which paths led to the construction of knowledge arising from contact with others in the ballrooms, the absence of a specific method for teaching “Ballroom Dancing” and the importance of graduation for the valorization of the “Ballroom Dancing” professional. The fourth chapter: THE CURRICULAR DESIGN OF THE HIGHER EDUCATION OF DANCE TEACHERS AT UFPA AND BALLROOM DANCE, begins by presenting an overview of the creation of undergraduate courses in Brazil, highlighting their role in the formation of teachers capable of working in formal education, then problematizes the absence of the specificity of ballroom dancing in the curricular contents of the undergraduate course in dance.
