Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/3614The need to preserve the environment and find the destinations for waste disposed of in the open air has contributed to a greater interest in the use of materials derived from renewable resources – and more than that, sustainable materials – associated with good mechanical performance. Therefore, in this study, fibers from the açaí seed were used, a residue from the agroindustry that generates an excess of residues per year, and curauá fibers, as a renewable resource in applications in polymeric composites. The objective of this study was to develop composite materials through the manual manufacturing method, with an Orthophthalic Polyester matrix employing reinforcement of lignocellulosic fibers from açaí and curauá with average lengths of 16 mm to perform morphological analysis of the fracture surfaces. The values of mass fraction entered were 50% açaí fibers, 50% curauá fibers and 50% hybrid, for 50% resin and 1% catalyst. For this, the physical characterization of fiber sizing and density was performed. For a morphological analysis, ruptures of 3 specimens were performed in uniaxial direction in a 15-ton hydraulic press of the BOVENAU brand and taken to study the fracture surface through macroscopic and microscopic analysis of the specimens, by means of Optical Microscopy - MO and Scanning Electron Microscopy - SEM.
