Acesso em: .https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8977This study aims to record and systematize the terms used in crab extraction in the community of Caratateua, located in Bragança-PA, recognizing language as an expression of local culture. Based on authors such as Biderman (2001), Geertz (1989), and Faulstich (2001), the research was conducted through a qualitative and descriptive approach, using interviews and field observations with local crab gatherers to identify and analyze the specific vocabulary of this traditional practice. The study resulted in the cataloging of 60 specialized terms, revealing a unique linguistic repertoire that reflects empirical knowledge, sustainable practices, and local identities. Thus, this work contributes to the appreciation of traditional knowledge, to the linguistic and cultural preservation of the community, and to the recognition of crab extraction terminology as intangible cultural heritage of the Amazon region.
