Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/3872The perspective of the research Laic State and School Democratic Management at College São Francisco Xavier (2011-2015), is to highlight and understand how in the current Brazilian constitutional scenario a public school maintains partnership with the State, and for having its formation based on Catholicism deals with the present religious diversity. Thus, the present work aims to analyze how respect for secularism occurs within the school, through the role of management. In this sense, the methodological process that followed the research was through the analysis of the documents that make possible the relationship of the Diocese from Abaetetuba with SEDUC, besides the analysis of the Pedagogical Political Projects of the school from 2011 to 2015, and interviews with teachers, school management, principal and student. With theoretical framework based on Yin (2005) for the use of the case study, through the use of oral history, Bourdieu (2000) on the concept of symbolic power, Cury (2006) on the role of the manager in ensuring a democratic management based on constitutional rights, and Reimer (2013) on the religious freedom based on the constitutions of Brazil. The research allowed a look at an unusual relationship of a public school, religious bias, with the state.
