Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/10147The objective of this work was to evaluate the action of sodium hypochlorite 2.5%, alcohol 70% and phosphoric acid 37% on the structure of root dentin. Ten anatomically similar teeth were used. The crowns of the teeth were removed at the level of the cemento-enamel junction with the aid of a diamond disc. Two grooves were made in the buccal and lingual regions and with the help of a hammer and chisel the roots were separated, resulting in two halves for each sample. For each half obtained, two samples of cervical dentin were made in the measurements of 2 mm in height and 4 mm in width. In the end, each dental element resulted in 4 specimens. In total, 40 specimens were obtained. The samples were inserted into the respective solutions (2.5% NaOCl, 37% Phosphoric Acid, 70% Alcohol and Saline) for 5 and 10 minutes, resulting in 8 groups (n = 5). After that, the characterization of the ultrastructure of the dentin was performed using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and evaluation of the mineral chemical composition of the dentin by the analysis of energy dispersion spectrometry (EDS), regarding the percentage of calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P), magnesium (Mg) and potassium (K) content and Ca / P ratio. Data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA, with a 5% significance level and Tukey post-test. All groups submitted to the solutions presented morphological changes in the visualization with SEM, except in the control group. For EDS, the phosphoric acid 5 minutes and phosphoric acid 10 minutes groups showed significant mineral loss and changes in the Ca / P ratio (P <0.05); The group Alcohol 10 minutes, NaOCl 5 minutes and NaOCl 10 minutes had no statistically significant difference between them (P> 0.05). It is concluded that phosphoric acid 37% has a greater aggressive potential according to chemical changes.
