The Santa Luzia community of Quilombo Flexinha is located on the banks of the Amazon River, in the municipality of Gurupá, Pará. To this end, field research was conducted using the semi-structured interview technique with nine families, conducted directly in the homes of key community interlocutors. A workshop was held to present the research results and discuss the topic in the Santa Luzia community. The data indicate that, despite the increasing use of commercial hybrid or transgenic seeds, especially in corn planting, there is still a significant effort on the part of the community to maintain traditional practices for conserving their own seeds. Crops such as cassava, native fruit trees, tubers, and a wide variety of food plants continue to be cultivated and their seeds stored using techniques inherited from previous generations. These practices demonstrate a deep knowledge of the local environment and a strong connection to the land, highlighting the importance of traditional seeds as essential elements of culture and community identity. The workshop focused on valuing traditional seeds confirmed a very worrying point: community residents are replacing traditional seeds with genetically modified seeds.Acesso AbertoSociobiodiversidadeEducação do campoQuilombolasSociobiodiversityRural educationCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::EDUCACAOUso e conservação de sementes tradicionais e diálogo de conhecimentosTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - MonografiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazil
