In this context, maintenance management based on failure analysis and asset prioritization is a fundamental tool for reducing downtime and optimizing maintenance resources. This study aimed to evaluate the operational reliability of the systems of a hydroelectric power plant through the analysis of historical records of failures, downtime, and maintenance costs, with the objective of identifying critical systems and proposing improvements to the maintenance strategy. The adopted methodology involved data cleaning and standardization, followed by the application of Pareto analysis to identify the systems with the highest concentration of failures. Subsequently, a criticality matrix was developed considering failure frequency, total downtime, and economic impact. In addition, recurring equipment failures were identified in order to evaluate failure recurrence and its effect on operational availability. The results revealed a significant concentration of failures in specific systems. The Generator Sistem (SGE) exhibited the highest failure frequency and the greatest operational impact, characterizing criticality associated with recurrent failures. In contrast, the Enclosed Substation (SEB) system showed a lower failure frequency but the highest maintenance cost and the longest mean repair time, indicating failures of greater severity. It was also observed that, although the power plant has a well-established preventive maintenance program, it lacks a formal methodology for predictive maintenance and root cause analysis, which limits the permanent elimination of recurring failures. Based on these findings, improvements were proposed to optimize the preventive maintenance plan, strengthen condition-based maintenance practices, and implement structured root cause analysis procedures. It is concluded that data-driven prioritization contributes to increased operational reliability, reduced recurrence of failures, and improved maintenance management in hydroelectric power generation systems.Acesso AbertoConfiabilidadeManutenção industrialUsina hidrelétricaAnálise de falhasCriticidadeOperational reliabilityIndustrial maintenanceHydroelectric power plantFailure analysisCriticalityCNPQ::ENGENHARIAS::ENGENHARIA MECANICAAnálise de falhas e confiabilidade operacional de equipamentos de uma usina hidrelétrica: estudo aplicado à base de dados de manutençãoFailure analysis and operational reliability of equipment in a hydropower plant: a study applied to the maintenance databaseTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - MonografiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazil
