Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/2656In this work the numerical simulation of a tube is performed with the aid of ANSYS Fluent software, where the results obtained are compared with the experimental data of Laufer's (1954) work “The structure of turbulence in fully developed pipe flow”. Results were compared for mean velocity profiles and velocity fluctuation components in dimensional coordinates with four RANS turbulence models. These show that such turbulence models accurately predict medium velocity profiles, but show difficulties in dealing with fluctuation components, especially two-equation models due to the isotropic consideration of the Boussinesq hypothesis.
