These communities have distinct ecosystems, one being a floodplain and the other on dry land, such as the Acaraqui River located on islands and the Camurituba-Beira River located on branches. Therefore, this paper aims to analyze the relationship between agroecology and popular culture in both traditional communities, seeking to demonstrate the interconnection between these two theoretical fields, which share principles such as environmental sustainability, the appreciation of local knowledge, and the strengthening of the community economy. To this end, a participatory research methodology was adopted, using semi-structured questionnaires composed of 23 open- and closed-ended questions, administered to 10 residents of each community. The research results show that the agricultural practices, customs, and popular knowledge of these communities are directly linked to agroecological principles, promoting environmental sustainability and resident autonomy. It can be concluded that the communities of Acaraqui and Camurituba-Beira preserve and live a popular culture deeply rooted in their relationship with nature, religion, and the rural way of life. This interdependence between culture and territory is reflected in both productive practices and festivities and community life, strengthening collective identity and the continuity of ancestral knowledge. Thus, agroecology reaffirms itself as an instrument of cultural resistance and sustainable development, contributing to the appreciation and permanence of traditional communities in the territory.
