Revealing several concepts about environmental education together with postcolonial studies, thus seeking strategies of approaches about the reflections surrounding the environment for students. Thus, a qualitative bibliographic research was carried out, where several works of important authors portraying environmental education as well as postcolonial studies were surveyed. And from the observations, some considerations were made about the role of environmental education in the preservation not only of environmental, but also cultural, where postcolonial studies raise the discussion of local valorization, where it is possible to notice that the local reality is a fundamental factor, because this local study, that is, of what is closest rises with looks to the world, thus achieving changes in reality.
