Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9619The industrialization of the construction sector has increased the adoption of precast concrete structural systems due to productivity gains and process standardization. However, in-service performance and durability depend on the integrated control of design, manufacturing, transportation, erection, and maintenance, with particular emphasis on connections, joints, and interfaces. These regions concentrate force transfer, erection tolerances, and watertightness requirements and, under high-humidity exposure such as in the Belém Metropolitan Region, they become more vulnerable to the ingress of aggressive agents and accelerated deterioration mechanisms. This study investigates pathological manifestations in precast concrete structures through a critical review of technical and scientific literature focused on connection performance and failure modes, combined with a field survey using a questionnaire administered to construction professionals operating in the region. The findings indicate cracking as the most frequently reported manifestation; nevertheless, joint leakage and localized corrosion of inserts and connection hardware are identified as more critical, highlighting the coupled relationship between cracking, oss of watertightness, and progressive deterioration. Reported damage concentrates at structural connections and interfaces and is strongly associated with execution-related deficiencies, especially during erection, including inadequate quality control of grouting and sealing. The study concludes that mitigating pathological manifestations primarily requires lifecycle-oriented interface management, including rigorous connection detailing, tolerance control, standardized erection procedures, workforce training, and systematic inspection and preventive maintenance tailored to local environmental conditions.
