Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9336The study analyzed the preservation and conservation practices of paper-based documents at the General Archive of the Regional Labor Court of the 8th Region TRT-8, located in the municipality of Ananindeua, Pará, identifying strengths and possible weaknesses in these strategies and offering suggestions for improvement. A bibliographic review was conducted addressing the characteristics of paper, the main agents of deterioration of this medium, and the technical procedures for preservation and conservation adopted by archival institutions. Methodologically, the research is characterized as exploratory and as a case study, including an interview with the archivist responsible for the archive and direct observation of the collection. Based on the results obtained, it was found that the General Archive of the TRT-8 carries out effective preservation and conservation practices, especially regarding document cleaning, storage, the implementation of an emergency plan, and the use of equipment such as air conditioning. However, weaknesses were also identified related to environmental conditions, particularly the absence of humidifiers and the lack of light control in part of the collection.
