Acesso em:.http://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/1712This work inside investigated the geological aspects of subsurface of the Sub basin of Estrada Nova, located in the southwest of the Metropolitan Region of Belem. This region was used a method of investigation the standard penetration test, which is the investigative method used most often in the geotechnical characterization of materials underground. For the characterization of subsurface geological materials, were used NBR-6484/2001 (Soil – Survey of simple recognition with SPT – Test Method) and the NBR 6484/1983 (Programming Survey of Simple Recognition), beyond NBR-7250/82 (Identification and description of soil samples obtained during investigations of simple recognition of soil). Analysis of profiles of survey allowed to infer that the subsurface geological framework consists of areas of deposition of clay, for the most part, and sand and silt, which, probably, were deposited in an environment of muddy plain. Sediments composed of sand and clay, commonly found deposited alternately, indicating conditions cyclicity. The deposition of thick layers muddies, was in favorable regions, in which there was enough space for the accumulation of the same. The formation of these packets was generated during process of flooding, for the energy of the current was very low. Channels were also interpreted channels, data concentration of sand material, sometimes filling concave shapes immersed in packages muddies. Often were based on fragments of laterite and topped again by mud.
