Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9511This article aims to identify how Portuguese Language (PL) teaching takes place in Youth and Adult Education (YAE) at EMEIF Nova Aliança, located in the rural area of Acará, Pará. The discussions are based on official educational documents from the Ministry of Education (MEC) and on scholars who examine how Portuguese Language teaching should be approached in the classroom. Interpretative and qualitative in nature, the study, conducted between 2022 and 2025, involves observation of the school environment, document analysis, and interviews with YAE participants. The research shows that, in the school studied, language practices still reflect a traditional teaching model, focused on grammar exercises, isolated sentences, and texts that are decontextualized from the students’ age group and reality.
