Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/4653Between 2004 and 2005, reports on 189 patients with fractures of the femur were collected by Hospital Pronto Socorro Municipal Humberto Maradei Pereira and are analyzed in the present study. We separated the fractures by the place of the injury and we combined information like age, mechanism causing femoral fractures and gender. A larger prevalence of fractures was observed in male (61,38%), however, patients more than 60 years old were represented by female (75,57%) and the number of people more than 60 years old with femoral fractures was an expressive group (31,22%). Also, fall was the mechanism causing femoral fractures that was more common (45,5%).
