Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9989The initial training of dance teachers and their integration into the context of basic education are relevant themes for understanding the challenges and possibilities of teaching art in the school setting. In this sense, it becomes fundamental to analyze how the knowledge constructed within the university interacts with the concrete demands of pedagogical practice. Thus, this work presents an investigation reflecting on the performance of female graduates of the Dance Licentiate program at the Federal University of Pará, based on their professional experiences in the public school system. The general objective is to investigate the challenges, possibilities, and difficulties faced by UFPA dance graduates in their teaching practice. The theoretical framework is based on the contributions of Isabel Marques (2012), Carla Morandi and Márcia Strazzacappa (2013), whose works discuss dance in the educational context. The methodology used an online questionnaire as a research instrument. The method employed was content analysis, which resulted in four categories: Academic conceptions and teaching practice in the school setting; Between laws and the reality of dance education; Dance as an artistic language in the educational context; Obstacles, challenges and possibilities of dance education in the educational field. The research results revealed that the teachers participating in the study conceive of dance as an area of knowledge and contribute to the integral development of students. Conversely, the possibilities present in pedagogical knowledge and practice stand out, developing the languages of art and making adaptations according to school contexts.
