Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8594The civil construction sector, although relevant to the economy, is one of the main contributors to solid waste generation, which reinforces the need for sustainable practices. This study aimed to evaluate waste management at two construction sites in the municipality of Tucuruí, PA, analyzing their practices and proposing alternatives that contribute to reducing environmental impacts. The research adopted a qualitative-quantitative exploratory approach, structured around a literature review, field visits, interviews with engineers, and the application of questionnaires and sustainability indicators. The data were treated comparatively, enabling the evaluation of the performance of the construction sites in relation to waste segregation, transportation/storage, and final disposal. The results showed that, although there are initiatives for the separation and reuse of materials, challenges such as high costs, lack of awareness among teams, irregular collection, and improper disposal persist. The sustainability index revealed satisfactory performance only in segregation, while transportation, storage, and final disposal obtained average results, demonstrating weaknesses. Thus, it is concluded that waste management in Tucuruí is at an intermediate stage. Even though there have been advances, measures such as ongoing training and monitoring systems, among others, are still necessary.
