Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/6841Corrosion is one of the main factors that generate losses in the order of millions of reais for power sector companies due to early deterioration of the electrical equipment of high voltage networks. Among these stand out the insulators type glass disc, which are formed by a metal hood, a pin carbon steel, a glass disk and structural mortar to unite the above three elements. The action of air pollution, humidity and intense electric field on the surface of these insulators provide the accumulation of charges and the incidence of electrical discharges on the surface of the pins, factors that maximize the degradation thereof, resulting in catastrophic failure of the equipment. In this sense, this work developed an anticorrosive device to pin insulators, based on the principle of electrostatic shielding, in order to nullify the presence of surface charges and the incidence of electrical discharges on the surface pins. Also assessed the application of super-hydrophobic coating on the dielectric surface of an insulator in order to verify the reduction of pollution layer deposited on it. He also made a atmospheric corrosion test with a steel specimen carbon exposed to environmental conditions of the city of Abaetetuba. The results of a computer simulation showed clearly that the anticorrosion device can cancel the influence of electric fields on the pins, a fact which was reaffirmed by experimental trial that demonstrated the effectiveness of the device for electrostatically shielding the surface of the pin of a glass insulator, as he avoided that electrical discharges on the order of 20 to 60 kV reached the surface. Moreover, analyzes conducted after the application of super-hydrophobic coating on the glass surface of an insulating proved the efficiency of the product in the removal of pollutants, which is consistent with the 155,55º contact angle between the coated surface and water droplets . The corrosion test, in turn, revealed that the carbon steel test specimen lost about 0.56 g for 1 year of exposure to environmental conditions of the above city.
