This paper aims to identify the monogenetic specimen found in the urinary bladder of anurans of the genus Trachycephalus Tschudi, 1838 from the municipality of Breves / Marajó Island. State of Pará, infer data on mean intensity prevalence, mean abundance and infer data on monogenetic records in South America. Ten specimens of Trachycephalus typhonius were collected and necropsied, the monogenetic parasites collected were separated, stained in Acetic Carmine and Trichomicrous of. Gomori and clarified in Methyl Salicylate and Beech Creosote for permanent blade mounting in Canadian Balsam. Slides were also mounted on Gray & Wess medium and Hoyer medium for better visualization of microscope structures. The collected monogenetics have the following characteristics: Body with dorsoventral flattening, presence of oral and haptoral suction cups and hamuli characteristic of the Monogenea Class, besides presenting single and follicular testis, compact ovary with immature eggs, uterine canal with 1-3 mature eggs, genital bulb with 8 spines, three pairs of haptoral suction cups and one pair of hamuli, presence of vaginas, being two ventrolateral vaginas. Based on the characteristics cited in comparison with the taxonomic key, the monogenetics found in this research belong to the family Polystomatidae, and to the genus Polystoma¸ being the most common genus found in amphibians. Monogenetic infection in Trachycephalus typhonius had a prevalence of 60% considered high due to the specificity of these parasites. And mean intensity of 4.5, the environment in which the host reproduces may influence the intensity of infection due to exposure of tadpoles to these parasites. The present study contributes with the expansion of the geographic distribution of this parasite, and new registration of Polystoma in Brazil.Acesso AbertoMonogenéticosAnfíbiosPolystomaMonogenetic parasitesAmphibianParasites PolystomaCNPQ::CIENCIAS BIOLOGICAS::PARASITOLOGIA::PROTOZOOLOGIA DE PARASITOSCaracterização morfológica de monogenea parasito de Trachycephalus typhonius (Anura: Hylidae)Trabalho de Curso - Graduação - MonografiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazil
