Screen readers are essential for people with visual impairments, illiterate or learning difficulties, helping to handle technological devices providing information through voice synthesis. However, visual resources often do not have textual descriptions that can be processed by screen readers, or when they have the information they are incomplete for understanding. Thus, it is not enough just to add alternative texts to the figures; these texts must convey a comprehensive communication to their users. This work presents a module of a tool in the development of a textual description model in Portuguese for simple and grouped bar charts, as they are the most used statistical instruments in documents, mainly in the academic environment and on the internet. Aiming to propose and analyze a tool to help visually impaired people to have a good understanding of these types of graphics through the vocalization of textual description. The tool module development adopted two textual description models for vocalization and programming languages such as Python, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Soon after implementation, a test was applied using a prototype of the tool with two groups, one with 20 participants without disabilities from the exact sciences and health area and with 3 people with visual impairments. Then, after a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the data, in relation to understanding, the simple bar chart most had no difficulty in understanding and explaining the data content, but the grouped bar chart, as it contained more information, had small errors of interpretation.
