Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/4811The present work aims to analyze, from documents, observations in the classroom and narratives of students and teacher, the contributions of education for the defense of human rights in a class of the final years of Elementary School in a middle school urban area of the Municipality of Breves-Pa. The work started from a central question: What are the contributions of the curriculum of the discipline citizen education for the training of students of the 6th year of elementary school in a school in the urban area of the Municipality of Breves-Pa? In order to answer this question, a qualitative research was carried out, having as instruments of data collection, observation in the classroom and of the school activities, interviews with the teacher of the 6th year of the discipline citizen education and with students of the 6th year of said discipline. Also the questionnaire was used with the direction of the school locus and the documentary analysis, to consider: Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Federal Constitution of 1988, LDB 9394/96, National Curricular Parameters, National Plan for Human Rights Education, Guidelines National Human Rights Education, Curricular Matrix of the Municipality of Breves. In the analysis of this theme, we support authors such as: Gomes (2012), Magalhães (2017), Oliveira and Cecílio (2012), Pereira (2011), Silva (2012), Tavares (2016) among others, which ensure human rights education. The results of the research affirm the importance of human rights education for the formation of critical subjects capable of respecting and living with the differences of the other and at the same time resisting social injustices materialized in violations of rights.
