In these terms, we aim to analyze the teaching methodologies and strategies used in the Geography discipline at EMEIF Mutuacá de Cima considering the local context. Furthermore, we sought to propose a teaching strategy capable of contributing to the knowledge of the students' lived space, through study case. Through theoretical references and a qualitative approach, data were collected from the school management, an interview was carried out with the geography teacher to identify the methodologies and teaching materials used, and a didactic activity was implemented, along the lines of geo-educational tourism with students. of the 6th Year. It can be said that despite the difficulties imposed in carrying out this methodological strategy, it was very important in approaching the socio-cultural identity of the place.
