However, the lack of experiences recorded in the literature on how this theme is approached with rural dwellers is notorious. In this context, it is important to see how students residing and studying in these areas understand the Environment theme, what environmental problems exist and how solid wastes are treated. This research was qualitative and quantitative. The subjects investigated were 22 students from the 6th grade of the Justino Costa Elementary School, located in the municipality of Breves, Marajó Archipelago, Pará. This research was carried out in the following stages: the application of a diagnostic questionnaire, sensorial practical activity, virtual learning object use and interviewing by means of a script in order to evaluate the activities developed with the students. It was verified that 72% of the students already heard about Environment, however, before the intervention the students had a naturalistic conception of the environmental theme and after the intervention there was a change and they were already included in the environment, indicating a globalizing vision. Among the main environmental problems perceived by the students in the community in which they live are the fires, which may be related to the destination of the waste.
