Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/4550The Ilha do Combú Preservation Area located in the metropolitan region of Belém do Pará, has a great plant wealth and attracts people from different states of Brazil through tourism. This study evaluated the potential of APA Ilha do Combú as a non-formal space for teaching and learning Environmental and Botany Education, to reinforce reflection on the environment and its preservation, as well as considering the important role of plants in the most varied activities of a community. For this, the knowledge of the population that frequents Ilha do Combú was surveyed through questionnaires carried out at Praça Princesa Isabel, the departure point for the space, in line with the bibliographic survey. We conclude that the visiting population has little knowledge about plant biodiversity, the importance of plants for the community and information about the importance of protecting the island.
