Thus, the general objective was to show the librarian's role in curating rare collections, especially the trajectory and contribution of the Librarian Berenice Bacelar as curator of the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MPEG). The research is characterized by the qualitative character, being developed bibliographic research for theoretical foundation on the subject of curation. As results it was observed that the librarian plays an important role in the process of safeguarding such cultural patrimony, in the role of curators. The curatorship is emphasized as an activity that takes time but does not receive the visibility it deserves. The research also highlighted the beautiful and great value collection of the Domingos Soares Ferreira Penna Library of MPEG, as well as the activities developed by the librarian Berenice Bacelar, responsible for maintaining the organization of MPEG works, conducting courses and workshops for the trainees And students of the Institution.
