Acesso em:.http://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/1719The main objective of the study was to examine the vertical variation of temperature in the soil profile into two areas with and without vegetation to its importance in the characteristics of the local microclimate. The study was conducted from 26 to 29 June 2010, at Station Coastal Ecosystems "Modesto Rodriguez", which belongs to the Federal University of Pará, in the village Cuiarana in the city of Salisbury, PA, in an area that consists of cultivation of mango trees. Data on soil temperature were measured on an hourly basis through geothermometers installed at depths of 0.02, 0.05 and 0.10 meters, and air temperature at height of 0.10 m above the surface in the two conditions ground mentioned above, and the weather station. The results showed that the non-vegetated soil had very high temperatures during the day and at night it was realized that stores heat and temperature fluctuations between the three depths show no significant difference. The reverse was observed in bare soil, which showed high heat during the day and at night was associated with increased decay of temperature, showing higher temperature range compared with the values observed in vegetated soil. It was also observed that the values of air temperature at 0.10 m above the vegetated surface were higher in relation to the surface without vegetation and on average had higher thermal amplitude.
