Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/8498The aim of this paper is to analyze the process of making places of memory of Brazilian Independence in the urban space of Belém, focusing on urban reforms and the processes of renaming and naming streets and lanes. In doing so, we sought to grasp the symbolic meanings of these urban interventions, as well as the motives behind these actions, carried out above all by the city's municipal administrators. We also sought to demonstrate that the memorial production of Brazilian Independence in Pará was centered on the construction of the heroism of some members of the military independence movement of April 14, 1823. The work methodology is anchored in the research and analysis of the minutes and official documents of the Belém City Council, between the 1840s and 1870s, available in the Archives of the Historical and Geographical Institute of Pará “João de Palma Muniz”; the reports of provincial presidents, accessed from the CRL Digital Delivery System website, of the Center for Research Libraries; and periodicals, such as the newspaper O Liberal do Pará, located at the electronic address of the Brazilian Digital Library.Acesso AbertoHistória urbanaMemória históricaIndependência BrasileiraBelémRuasUrban HistoryHistorical memoryBrazilian IndependenceStreetsCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::HISTORIA::HISTORIA DO BRASIL::HISTORIA REGIONAL DO BRASILEntalhar a Independência na cidade: reformas urbanas e lugares de memória em Belém do Pará (1840-1870)Trabalho de Curso - Graduação - MonografiaAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazil
