It has two physical properties that drawn the attention of several industrial sectors (steel production, turbines, defense industry, nuclear generation and space industry, for example): it is corrosion resistant and is very resistant to corrosion and withstands high temperatures. For marketing purposes, Niobium is traded by two forms: iron-niobium alloy (LFe-Nb) e niobium oxide (ONb). The main importers of LFe-Nb are: Holland 29%, followed by China (22%), Singapore (16%), United States (14%) and Japan (11%). On the other hand, the importers of ONb are the countries of NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) (81%), and China (19%). Focusing on production, Brazil is the largest producer (93.67%), followed by Canada (5.28%) and Australia (1.05%). The main states are Minas Gerais and Goias, but some deposits were detected in Amazonas and Roraima. Two companies are explorers: Companhia Brasileira de Metalurgia e Mineração (CBMM) and Catalan Mining Goias. Besides Brazil, only Canada and Angola are exporters, however they are small scale ones. In spite of the geopolitical role of Niobium, by the Brazilian government can be noticed the lack of forwarding-looking policies about production, technology and economic revenues.Acesso AbertoGeologia Econômica - BrasilNióbio - BrasilCNPQ::CIENCIAS EXATAS E DA TERRA::GEOCIENCIAS::GEOLOGIASituação da economia mineral do Nióbio no Brasil e no mundoTrabalho de Curso - Graduação - Monografia
