These groups identify themselves based on their ethnic identity and collective social organization. Primary Health Care (PHC) is considered the main gateway to the Unified Health System (SUS), providing the first point of contact between individuals, families, and communities and public health services. This study aimed to describe the specialized healthcare provided to traditional communities through the actions of Primary Health Care (PHC). To this end, a bibliographic review was conducted using the databases Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), and the National Primary Care Policy (PNAB), considering the following descriptors: “Primary Health Care (PHC)”, “PHC and Traditional Communities”, and “PHC and Unified Health System (SUS)”. The selection of these terms aims to deepen the understanding of PHC's role in the context of traditional communities, as well as its structural function within the SUS, in light of the principles of equity, comprehensiveness, and universality established by national policy. The proposal of mobile medical care with specialists emerges as an innovative solution to overcome the geographical and logistical barriers faced in remote areas. This initiative seeks to integrate primary and specialized care, bringing quality healthcare services to populations often far from urban centers. For this proposal to be effective, it is essential that healthcare professionals and local leaders are familiar with the populations they serve, recognizing their specific realities, cultures, and needs. Moreover, mapping available health services and identifying strategies that make a real difference in care delivery are necessary steps. The implementation of this proposal depends on investments in infrastructure, technology, and the training of healthcare teams. It is also crucial that inclusive public policies be developed and strengthened to ensure genuine improvements in access and quality of healthcare in remote regions.
