In this sense, this work aimed to understand and detail the leading role of an elderly quilombola farmer who heads and manages a family agricultural production system composed of elderly women in the rural area of Abaetetuba-PA, emphasizing the dimensions of work, care, and resistance. The research was conducted based on experiences acquired during Supervised Internships I, II, III, and IV of the Agroecology Technology course at the Federal University of Pará - Abaetetuba-PA Campus, carried out in the quilombolacommunity of Baixo Itacuruçá. This paper was developed through a case study, conducted through direct and participant observations, application of a semi-structured questionnaire, photographic records, and field notebooks. From this, the research highlighted the leading role and performance of Dona Maria Izabel in family farming, demonstrating her fundamental importance for the maintenance of the property and the productive system developed there, consisting of the subsystems of cultivation, livestock farming, agro-extractive activities, and the agroforestry backyard. Furthermore, her work extends to promoting food security and family care, as she has taken on the responsibility of caring for her mother and sister, both of whom are ill. The study also demonstrated the difficulties faced by Dona Maria Izabel, especially due to her status as a female farmer, a member of a quilombo community, and anelderly woman. In this context, gender and ethnic prejudice, the devaluation and lack of recognition of her work, the overload resulting from the accumulation of functions, the physical limitations resulting from her age, and the uncertainty about the continuation of productive activities on the family farm stood out. But, despite the challenges, the farmer's trajectory is marked by resilience and strategies for overcoming the adversities that have crossed her path.
