For this, it will show through bibliographical analysis, questionnaires with 9th grade students and interviews with old residents of Ipixuna do Pará; the different conceptions regarding heritage, the Ipixuna river and how history classes are given in the municipality with regard to these aspects. The text will seek to explain the importance of understanding the different heritage views and in relation to the Ipixuna river, pointing out as a possibility the approach of this river as na environmental heritage of the municipality of Ipixuna do Pará; thus demonstrating the problems generated by the non-recognition of the importance of the Ipixuna river for the history of the municipality and consequently the lack of collection for its preservation.
