Despite their historical importance and wide range of applications in various scientific fields, these topics are often explored in a limited way at the high school level. The proposal is to present conic sections in a clear and accessible manner, starting from their geometric definitions and progressing to their algebraic representations. We analyze both the standard (reduced) equations and the general equation of conics, investigating the procedures of rotation and translation necessary for their identification and classification. Connections with Linear Algebra are also explored, using concepts such as change of basis and diagonalization to provide a more rigorous alternative to the traditional classification approach. Throughout the work, graphic resources are used with the help of GeoGebra software, aiming to make the relationship between geometry and algebra more visible. The aim is to offer a didactic contribution that helps students and teachers in delving deeper into this fundamental topic, encouraging a more integrated view of mathematics.
