Acesso em:.http://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/1134The success of a geophysical survey depends mainly of the decrease of cost and time of each stage. A way of optimize the survey would be know, before the field measurements, in which conditions the data should be acquired. This type of word is known as Experiment Design. This work tests a script step by step to to do this work, taking as example the magnetotelluric (MT) investigation of an environment with resistive target, as diabase sills, basalt flows and halocinetic structures (salt), which are of special interest in the oil prospection, because they make the seismic imaging very hard. The experiment consisted in the selection of the measurements that supplied more information about the body as well as the determination of the ideal band of periods to realize the MT survey and the array with the minimum of stations able to allow the adequate investigation of the target. The results showed that a single component of the data - the phase obtained by TM mode – is able to be used, by means of the interpretation, for the reconstruction of the target source of the anomaly. Furthermore, it was possible choose a band with few periods to get the cited reconstitution of the target. The experiment, however, found difficulties in the choice of an ideal stations array.
