Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9268This paper presents two outreach projects developed in the Mechanical Engineering program, focusing on practical training and on fostering technological vocation among students and members of the external community: the Internal Combustion Engine Maintenance Course and the Mechanical Drawing Course using SolidWorks software. The initiatives aimed to bring participants closer to professional engineering practice, promoting applied learning and strengthening the integration among teaching, research, and outreach activities. The Internal Combustion Engine Maintenance project targeted young people and adults from the city of Tucuruí and surrounding areas, providing training in preventive and corrective maintenance techniques, as well as disseminating best practices related to occupational safety and environmental preservation. The Mechanical Drawing course was directed at high school seniors and first-year mechanical engineering students, offering an initial introduction to three dimensional modeling tools in a CAD environment, with emphasis on developing technical reasoning, creativity, and familiarity with software widely used in industry. The results indicate that the projects significantly contributed to the development of technical skills, teamwork abilities, sense of responsibility, and vocational guidance among participants.
