The promotion of more efficient buildings not only contributes to environmental preservation but also can provide greater thermal, lighting, and acoustic comfort for users. As of Normative Instruction No. 02, of June 4, 2014, it became mandatory for federal public buildings to meet higher levels of energy efficiency. In this context, this study proposes to analyze the thermo-energetic performance of the building Núcleo de Altos Estudos Amazônicos (NAEA) at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) and evaluate the acoustics of the classrooms, library, and auditoriums within the structure. The methodology employed for the first part of the study involves computer simulation using the softwares EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, and SketchUp. For the acoustic assessment of the environments, calculations of reverberation time were conducted following the Eyring equation and sound pressure level calculations to assess insulation. The overall objective of the study is to develop a retrofit project for the building, aiming for the highest National Energy Conservation Certification for constructed buildings, and addressing the acoustic performance of the educational spaces within the building (classrooms, two auditoriums, and the library) according to the criteria recommended by the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards - ABNT NBR 10152:2017. Regarding energy efficiency, the analysis found positive results for the envelope, but inefficient for the other systems. After the proposals, all systems achieved INI-C level A. Regarding acoustics, it was found that the insulation was satisfactory, but the environments needed greater absorption to achieve an excellent reverberation time level.
