However, in various contexts, especially in riverside areas, teachers still face many challenges for the literacy process to occur effectively. In this regard, the present article aimed to analyze the literacy practices carried out by teachers in the early years of elementary education at EMEF Prof. Guilherme Baia, in the municipality of Limoeiro do Ajuru/PA, focusing on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade classes. Furthermore, we sought to identify the assessment processes, teachers’ continuing education, and the challenges they face. The main theoretical contributions come from the works of Magda Soares (2019, 2020), Mortatti (2006), Rodrigues and Martins (2020), and Franchi (2012). As methodological procedures, an exploratory research with a qualitative approach was adopted. For data collection, semi-structured interviews were conducted with the teachers working in the respective classes. From the data analysis, it became evident that teachers face several challenges in their pedagogical practice, but they also demonstrate great commitment and creativity to overcome them and provide meaningful literacy experiences to students. The main challenges highlighted were the lack of family participation and the scarcity of teaching resources.
