The research in question analyzed the representations of former students of the Our Lady of the Angels Institute regarding the education they received at the institution from 1953 to 1971. INSA was founded in the city of Abaetetuba in the early days of the 50s by the Capuchin Missionary Sisters, who initially gave priority to the education of girls from the referred municipality. Methodologically, the research was developed with a documentary and bibliographic support based on the theoretical assumptions of the New Cultural History. In addition, it was associated with the Oral History method, whose source was the memorialistic records of 9 former students, in the age group above 65 years. The research also spoke with theoreticians in the field of the history of education, such as Libâneo (2014) and cultural studies such as Louro (2004); among others that were indispensable for the support of this study. According to the representations of the former students, the educational model proposed by the institution required a curriculum that was based on disciplines and educational practices that aimed mainly at the moral, social and religious formation of the students. For the former students, this formation defended the behavioral discipline of women, modesty, obedience, respect, and other values that reinforced a feminine pattern crystallized in the society of the time, regarding domestic responsibilities. This result is confirmed by the fact that the students at that time became housewives, mothers and wives, as far as possible, to practice the profession of teachers in the institution or in schools of the municipality. The cross-checking of the data found in the different sources showed that the Our Lady of the Angels Institute (INSA), during the defined period, was careful to maintain a conservative education based mainly on the moral and religious principles that guided the conduct of the students so that they if they constituted the profile of a woman socially acceptable for the time.Acesso AbertoRepresentações de educaçãoInstituto Nossa Senhora dos AnjosHistórias de instituiçõesMemórias de ex-alunasRepresentations of educationOur lady of the angels instituteHistory of institutionsMemories of ex-studentsCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::EDUCACAO“Ensina a menina no caminho em que ela deve andar”: representações de práticas educativas do Instituto Nossa Senhora dos Anjos em memórias de ex-alunas (1953-1971)Trabalho de Curso - Graduação - Monografia
