Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/10133Dental absences, accentuated wear of teeth and loss of vertical dimension of occlusion (OVD) are still common in the day-to-day dental clinics of the colleges and associates, mainly due to bruxism and the lack of access to dental services, for financial reasons or ignorance. Factors such as anxiety or stress can trigger and / or aggravate bruxism. This work aims to show the step by step and the importance of an oral rehabilitation with temporary prostheses for the reestablishment of the OVD, masticatory, phonetic and aesthetic function. A 59-year-old patient waits at the dental clinic of the Federal University of Pará (UFPa) complaining about the appearance of the teeth, difficulty in chewing and phonation. In the clinical examination, a decrease in the lower third of the face, an aged appearance, dental absences and a great loss of coronary structure were observed. The treatment plan consisted of making temporary fixed and removable prostheses for later rehabilitation with permanent prostheses.
