In virtue of this historic moment in Brazil, came the question in gabout the sale of books considered subversive and the services offered by Jinkings Bookstore. We performed a literature search on the topic, including the history of the book, the dissemination of information, the trade in books, the Military Dictatorship and the Marxist Ideology. Interview was conducted with Isa Jinkings, the wife of the bookseller, and his sons, Álvaro and Leila Jinkings. From the literature review and interviews, found the importance of Jinkings bookseller on the political scenein the history of Pará, as well as the literary contribution of Jinkings Bookstore, which served as subsidies in the intellectual formation of Pará as Benedito Nunes, Ruy Barata, Haroldo Maranhão, among others.
