On average, adult men should have Hb levels above 13g/dL and non-pregnant women above 12g/dL. Epidemiological data on the prevalence of iron deficiency anaemia could guide preventive health policies, but there is a scarcity of studies on the distribution of anaemia in the Brazilian population, especially in the Amazon region. Objective: To describe the epidemiological profile of hospitalisation records for iron deficiency anaemia in the state of Pará between 2008- 2023. Methods: Through a descriptive ecological study, we analyzed the sociodemographic profile and the spatiotemporal characteristics of hospitalisation records for iron deficiency anaemia in Pará for the period 2008-2023. Data were obtained from the databases of the Unified Health System (SUS) and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Results: Among the hospitalisation cases for iron deficiency anaemia in Pará, there is a higher frequency in females aged 15-49 years (p <0.05). Temporal analysis indicated a positive trend (p <0.05) for the period 2018-2023, suggesting a significant increase in cases. On the other hand, spatial analysis did not show any patterns (p > 0.05). Discussion: Factors such as sex, menstruation, socioeconomic class, and childbearing age increase the prevalence of iron deficiency anaemia. Furthermore, there has been an increase in hospitalisations for anaemia in Pará between 2018-2023, with no seasonality, suggesting constant socioeconomic and environmental influences. Conclusions: The spatiotemporal distribution reveals an increase in hospitalisations for iron deficiency anaemia in the last five years, with a focus on the Xingu region. This highlights the need for further studies to identify and mitigate causal factors and complications, aiming to improve quality of life.
