Current technology that seeks to meet society's demands is primarily represented by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Therefore, this study aims to investigate the use of Generative AI in the production of academic work by students and faculty of the Pedagogy Degree program at UFPA – Bragança Campus/School of Education. A qualitative, exploratory approach was adopted, involving a semi-structured questionnaire, with data interpretation based on Laurence Bardin's Content Analysis. The main results show that GENs have pedagogical potential in the development of scientific work in higher education. Furthermore, it was identified that educational institutions lack adequate preparation to train teachers capable of dealing with the use of Generative AI in the information society, with gaps in their curricular components. This lack of academic training results in a lack of knowledge about the related ethical and moral limits, as well as the pedagogical potential of using AIs in the Pedagogy Degree course.
