Acesso em:.https://bdm.ufpa.br/handle/prefix/9515This research addresses the roça (small-scale farming) in the Quilombo Oxalá de Jacunday, located in the Quilombola Territory of Jambuaçu, Moju (PA), from the perspective of Quilombola School Education, the Roça de Direitos Project, and dialogue with children from the Municipal School Professor Rildo Valadares. The study problematizes the value of the roça as part of the educational process of children in this territory. It aimed to promote and produce learning through the exchange of knowledge between children and farmers, with the roça as a central pedagogical element. This is a qualitative research, involving both bibliographic and field research. The latter included participant observation, interviews, and informal conversations with farmers, as well as workshops about the roça with the children. The results show that, although the roça is still associated with physical effort and the monoculture of cassava, agroforestry practices have been re-signifying agricultural work, strengthening quilombola identity and promoting environmental sustainability. The workshops revealed diverse perceptions among the children, indicating both affective bonds and a certain distancing from work in the roça.
