It is estimated that in 2016 Brazil reported around 15.490 new cases of oral cancer, in which, 290 was concentrated in the North region. In this context, the analysis of Years of Potential Life Lost (YPLL) can size the magnitude of a determined disease when it comes to its mortality, expressing estimated social value. The main goal of this study was to assess the index of Years of Potential Life to people diagnosed with Mouth Cancer in the State of Para. It was used users database from the Hospital Universitário João de Barros Barreto, through the YPLL technique, proposed by Romeder and McWhinnie, using 1 year old as minimal age and 70 years old as maximum age. 57% of the collected deaths occurred before the life expectancy applied by the method, concluding an average of 14,1 life-years lost by these people.
