The union of these two pillars is essential to the educational process, as it helps shape conscious individuals who are prepared to live in society. Therefore, it is fundamental to further debate this relationship and encourage society to reflect on the shared responsibility of families and schools in student development. Thus, this research aims to analyze how this relationship between families and the Santa Anastácia School takes place and how the partnership is formed. More specifically, it seeks to investigate the main challenges, how the school contributes to strengthening this partnership, and propose practices that bring families closer to the institution. This is a qualitative study, conducted through field research at the Santa Anastácia Municipal Elementary School. A semi-structured interview with the school’s pedagogical coordinator was used as the data collection instrument. For data analysis, the content analysis technique was employed. As a result, based on the coordinator’s account, two main aspects were highlighted: the existence of a conflicted relationship, evidenced by the low participation of families in school activities; and the presence of ongoing projects that help address these challenges and bring the school and families closer together. Therefore, it was possible to conclude that the relationship between Santa Anastácia School and the students' families is marked by conflicts and challenges, especially regarding family involvement in daily school life.
