Acesso em: .http://bdm.ufpa.br/jspui/handle/prefix/1934This paper presents a diagnosis of water users in the 64 km of the canal Sertao Alagoano, highlighting the work of construction of the Canal and the physical and socio-economic communities living in their surroundings. The study was conducted by collecting data obtained from the survey in 68 homes in 21 communities belonging to the municipalities of Delmiro Gouveia, Pariconha and White Water, relating to social conditions, living conditions, economic conditions and water use channel. Two methods were used, geosystem and dialectics, based on the analysis of data acquired through references, photographic and field visit. The results demonstrate that the population in general benefits from the water of the canal and a large portion of the population continues to be fueled by water tank car. However, there is an inefficiency in the management of the canal water reaffirming the need to carry out more effective actions in this regard.
