In public hospitals with limited resources and high surgical demand, simple medical equipment failures often result in unnecessary repair calls, impacting patient availability and safety. In this scenario, collaborative efforts between healthcare professionals and clinical engineers are essential, with strategies that optimize the identification of operational failures and reduce response times. This work proposes the development of a diagnostic flowchart aimed at identifying simple operational failures in anesthesia equipment. The methodology adopted is a quantitative approach, based on the analysis of data extracted from the Gênesis system, used by the outsourced company Biomeditech for asset management at a large public hospital located in the metropolitan region of Belém, Pará. Seventy-eight corrective service orders were analyzed between January 2024 and April 2025, a significant portion of which involved issues that could be resolved directly at the point of use, such as disconnected sensors, poorly fitted parts, or self-test failures without associated technical defects. Based on this analysis, a fault diagnosis flowchart was structured to guide healthcare professionals—such as anesthesiologists and nursing technician —and Clinical Engineering staff in checking basic items before opening calls. The proposal aims to reduce the burden on technical staff, minimize equipment downtime, and promote patient safety.
